FLOW

Currently, possibly one of the best J-Pop band in Japan: FLOW

Recently I’ve been following their songs because some of their songs appear as the Opening of animes and dramas. I believe everyone should know of Code Geass’ first opening: COLORS. It had the retro-like opening for the first few seconds but changed into a modern rock song the next. It was pure ownage!! =P

Tantei Gakuen Q drama also used their new song, ANSWER. The title fit the theme of the whole drama. And I’ve been looping it since…I got it? (PS: Alafista Otaku did a short write-up on the new single. Read it here.)

Brief History of Flow

The lead vocal of Flow, Koushi, was the first founder of the band. Ever since middle school, he liked hide and wanted to copy him, especially when he played the guitar. (Hide currently plays as the head guitarist in X Japan) Slowly, over the years, he started recruiting other members.(Had no idea what is written here, but was able to understand the “hide” part)

Here’s the list of members:

Vocal: Keigo Hayashi. Youngest? At least he look decent.

Vocal: Kōshi Asakawa. LOL: He reminds me of Black Eye Peas. Lol.

Guitar: Takeshi Asakawa. Brother of Koushi.

Drum: Hiroshi Iwasaki

bass: Yasutarō Gotō

And the band became official in 2001!!

Something to note off: all five members were from different parts of Japan. except brothers “Koushi and Takeshi”. Vocal, Keigo, was from Tokyo, Koushi and Take were from Saitama area, while Goto was from Niigata, and Iwasaki is from Osaka.

As mentioned above, quite a number of songs they composed became the opening theme for animes, movie and dramas. Narutards should know of “GO!!”. It was by them. So was “Re:member”. Eureka Seven opening (DAYS) too (I have not listen to it before). Of course, the only 2 songs that got me into listening to them would be “Colors” and “Answer”. And one would realise that the titles of the songs are simple, one word titles, except some of them are a few words. It’s something nice and easy to think for them! Lol.

Overall, I would continue to look out for them. And oh ya, recently they celebrated their 5th Birthday. Go here to see what they have written to fans regarding their 5th anniversary. And “Happy 5th Anniversary to them”, though they can’t read it! lol.
