Kaleidoscope Manga Event Report

Yesterday was the first day of “Kaleidoscope Manga Event”. As I won’t be going to the second day of the event, I went for the first and teh stuff there blew me. More on that later..Now onto more impressions of the event for yesterday..

Upon entering the event area, MY.PLAYGrOund, I was given a leaflet telling me the event. Maybe it was my dressing that I was in that the staff gave me. (after all, I was wearing semi-formal as I had something on that night) I imagined that if you wore or look like an otaku, you might be forgiven from the leaflet slaughter. So, I got the leaflet. :/ (Oh, the leaflet looked something like the image on top, but imagine you’re holding it. Mine was dead upon reaching my hands:)

The first thing that I did was to look at all the available booths there. Notably, some doujin studios, KKnM, Chuang Yi, Studio Bounce and a NUS booth.

Collateral Damage Booth

They’re a local studio that does some of their own works, both in English and Chinese. I had a chat with one of their members and it was a nice chat. I asked how many people they had on a team and how long for a comic to be release. And Tragic Comedy was part of their team too. BTW: he’s teh main organiser for the whole event. So, all HAIL HIM!!

Chuang Yi’s Booth

Chuang Yi was there once again to promote our local manga series, Mugen. And of cos, there to sell some mangas too ^^; But that’s not the point. One of the staffs was not doing his work, but instead went to the graffiti corner and drew things on it. More on that later, but all I can say is that, HE WAS THE OMG!! HIS WORK IS KICK-ARS~ So, to the boss, just forgive him!!><

KKnM booth

And of cos, there’s the KKnM booth. They were selling pencil boards, T-Shirts, files etc. And I managed to see a 1/144 scale model of Gundam Exia. It was brought by some other guy and I had a little chat with him about the model. And I could say, it’s worth the $20!! And I bought something there. Pencil Board..

And to think, after purchasing my pencil board, the kind staffs (if I’m not wrong, it’s Bjorn and MistaYoh) introduced me to the pencil boards for the game version of Clannad. But didn’t buy that though, T_T Despite their hardwork at explaining that it was the last set of PB for sale in Singapore, I was going…Sry, to the both of you guys. ^^;

Studio Bounce

Studio Bounce was there to showcase their work. The staffs there did a short animation clip using EasyToon and a Wacom. And the animation etc was of nice standard. Cheers to them.

NUS booth

There was another Uni anime club there, but I couldn’t remember. They were selling doujins that they did and earn $$$ =D

There were other few booths, but I did not manage to capture all of them into photos. So, If you’re any groups out there and was there but wasn’t reported here, pls reply below so readers can know ^^;

The gallery part of the event was fillled with many great artworks! With doujin studios, big name companies and some other individual artists showcasing their works, staring at them is inspirational. (random display of artworks)

With many art pieces on display, capturing them on camera was easy, but posting them here is hard. T_T And there should be other bloggers reporting it soon. So, Look out for their posts too ^^

The graffiti corner was the next place that I looked out for. Many girls were doing sketches all over the board and I would say, they’re good!!

The middle drawing caught my eye. Done by the CY staff mentioned earlier (edited prior to TC’s comment below).

There was another graffiti of a “Kingdom Heart’s” look alike boy. Around him, you could see words like “I want to have children with you!!” or “WTF?!” and “GRope here”. It was awesome that I didn’t took a pic of it. T_T. To the artist: COOL WORK!! But it’s sad that I didn’t captured it on my noobish camera.

And now, onto my little loot:

Bought at the KKnM booth, I couldn’t resist my first PB.

It’s 2 sided. $6. And it’s COOL!! XD

The thing is: While photographing it, I dropped it and collateral damage was done to it.

See the prob? Well, the chances of it being KKnM fault’s is quite low. So, it’s mine. T_T

And 1 final art piece that I saw that kinda painted what I felt thru out this whole week:

Tied. Mentally Constraint. Mixed feelings. Emo. These are only a few words to describe how I felt. And how I wish I could curse Cupid.
